Where You Would Work
The Police Accountability Board is an independent agency within the City of Rochester charged with overseeing and reimagining Rochester’s policing system. The Board investigates potential wrongdoing by Rochester police officers, brings change and transparency to the Rochester Police Department, and educates and engages community members in the work of reimagining public safety. The Board is committed to performing these tasks in a workplace defined by accountability, equity, transparency. The Board’s headquarters are located in Rochester’s downtown core.
What You Would Do
Employees in this proposed entry-level position would provide a wide range of assistance across the Board’s Public Affairs Division. Public Affairs Assistants may help with preparing presentations and reports, drafting press releases, reviewing social media posts, coordinating community engagement events, tracking projects and campaign exposure and providing correspondence and scheduling support as needed. The Employee may also serve as a point of contact for inquiries from the media and the public. Employees would be supervised by the Chief of Public Affairs. Related work would be performed as required.

Proposed Qualifications & Requirements
To qualify for this proposed position, you may have to meet the following proposed minimum qualifications, which include a high school diploma or G.E.D. plus:
- Four (4) years of experience in administrative, analytical, communications, or program coordination work; or
- An Associate’s degree plus two (2) years of experience as defined in (A) above; or
- A Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year of experience as defined in (A) above.
This position would have a residency requirement. If hired for this position, you would have one year to move within the City of Rochester. Continued residency in the City would be required throughout your tenure.
