The Police Accountability Board is an independent agency within the City of Rochester charged with overseeing and reimagining Rochester’s policing system. The Board investigates potential wrongdoing by Rochester police officers, brings change and transparency to the Rochester Police Department, and educates and engages community members in the work of reimagining public safety. The Board is committed to performing these tasks in a workplace defined by accountability, equity, transparency. The Board’s headquarters are located in Rochester’s downtown core.
The Digital Forensic Analyst provides support to the investigative staff in the collection and processing of various types of electronic evidence; preserves and analyzes data from electronic data sources, including laptop and desktop computers, mobile devices and other sources of audio and video; and performs related duties as required. Occasional participation in PAB community engagement efforts as and when required. Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.
The ideal candidate for this position will combine technical expertise with the ability to envision how the end-product of their work can best be understood by the general public. The Board is looking for a quick worker who has thought deeply about how body-worn camera footage, surveillance footage, and bystander videos shape the public’s understanding of police activities.

If hired for this position, you will have one year to move within the City of Rochester. Continued residency in the City will be required throughout your tenure.
This jobs falls within the “competitive” class of civil service positions. If you are hired to this position, you will be given a provisional appointment that allows you to work in the position until a civil service exam is created and administered.
