The Police Accountability Board is an independent agency within the City of Rochester charged with overseeing and reimagining Rochester’s policing system. The Board investigates potential wrongdoing by Rochester police officers, brings change and transparency to the Rochester Police Department, and educates and engages community members in the work of reimagining public safety. The Board is committed to performing these tasks in a workplace defined by accountability, equity, transparency. The Board’s headquarters are located in Rochester’s downtown core.
The Community Engagement Coordinator is a dynamic community leader who is primarily responsible for leading outreach efforts in the planning and implementation of programs, events and activities to promote awareness of PAB services and increase community involvement in the PAB’s work. The person in this role will plan, develop, and maintain relationships with individuals, community groups/organizations, neighborhood businesses and other stakeholders within Rochester and serve as a liaison between community stakeholders and the Board. This role also serves as an internal expert in communicating to and engaging with impacted and marginalized communities. Ideal candidates will have: a knowledge of and passion for the Rochester community, the ability to build community power and strengthen, uplift and center community voices around the re-imagination of Rochester’s public safety system. The Coordinator may supervise lower-level, part-time, and volunteer staff who will conduct community engagement efforts.

This position has a residency requirement. If hired for this position, you will have one year to move within the City of Rochester. Continued residency in the City will be required throughout your tenure.
This jobs falls within the “competitive” class of civil service positions. If you are hired to this position, you will be given a provisional appointment that allows you to work in the position until a civil service exam is created and administered.
