The Police Accountability Board is an independent agency within the City of Rochester charged with overseeing and reimagining Rochester’s policing system. The Board investigates potential wrongdoing by Rochester police officers, brings change and transparency to the Rochester Police Department, and educates and engages community members in the work of reimagining public safety. The Board is committed to performing these tasks in a workplace defined by accountability, equity, transparency. The Board’s headquarters are located in Rochester’s downtown core.
The Chief of Investigations heads the Board’s Investigations Division, which is responsible for investigating and addressing potential wrongdoing by RPD officers. The Chief of Investigations is responsible for updating and implementing the Board’s investigatory policies and procedures, managing mid-level supervisors and ensuring quality control over investigations. The Chief of Investigations serves as the public face of the Board’s investigatory work into officer misconduct. Occasional participation in PAB community engagement efforts as and when required. Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.
The Board is looking to fill this position with someone with significant experience supervising attorneys and/or investigative staff. We are looking for a leader with a track record of building and developing teams. The most desirable candidates are those with experience in high-intensity and/or public-facing roles, such as senior staff in public defender’s offices.
